The Second Annual Technology Spring CleanAPRIL 17, 2010 (Rain Date: April 24th)
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: 951 Heather Park Drive, Garner, NC 27529 (located on the corner of Aversboro Rd. and Heather Park Drive)
WingSwept's Technology Spring Clean has become an annual Earth Day event in Garner, due to the success of the first spring clean that was held in 2009. Over 5,000 pounds of old technology equipment were dropped off to be recycled at the first year's event. On April 17, 2010, the Second Annual Technology Spring Clean resulted in over 22,000 pounds of electronics being dropped off. The community was once again very enthusiastic about supporting the Earth Day cause.
The total of 22,458 pounds of equipment in 2010 was made up of:
- 8,919 pounds of CPUs
- 8,654 pounds of monitors
- 3,060 pounds of printers
- 821 pounds of UPS
- 438 pounds of keyboards
- 423 pounds of wire
- 67 pounds of media
- 53 pounds of circuit boards
- 23 pounds of hard drives
WingSwept, a Garner based technology services provider, holds the spring clean event to allow businesses or consumers the opportunity to bring in unwanted computer technology items, drop them off for free, and avoid them harmfully going to landfills.
Computers/CPUs, UPS, printers, monitors, copiers, keyboards, mice, circuit boards, mainframes, hard drives, and phone systems are accepted for drop-off.
All hard drives are removed from the computers and securely shredded prior to recycling. WingSwept is donating this as a service to the community to allow business or individuals concerned about sensitive data peace of mind knowing that their data will be secure.
Recycling this equipment is a simple way to reduce office clutter and become a little bit greener just in time for spring!
