Richard J. Benbow, Sales Director
Richard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Appalachian
State University in 1976. Immediately after graduation, Richard taught in the Wake County School System for 7 years in Raleigh and Cary, North Carolina. Richard left the education profession and began working for various companies in a sales capacity. While working as a salesman, and later a buyer, for an independent electronics store, Richard was able to combine his teaching skills and his
understanding of emerging electronics technology to successfully assist
his customers and the company to improve their knowledge of the
electronics field. This compilation of skills and knowledge earned him
several sales awards and deep appreciation and recognition from the
product suppliers.
After a few years, Richard began working for a well-known
international electronics company as their NC Territory Sales
Representative. Soon there after, Richard was promoted to Regional
Sales Manager. His duties included overseeing all consumer electronic
sales and managing personnel in North and South Carolina. Again,
Richard excelled in this position and received many awards which
included several trips abroad. As a result of his performance,
Richard was promoted to Regional Sales Manager of Military Sales. This
position called for Richard to manage sales to the Navy and Marine Corp
exchanges in the U.S. and its territories as well as oversee personnel
located nationwide as well as in the Pacific.
Constant U.S. travel and travel to Guam, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii became
much less enjoyable after 9/11. When the opportunity to change careers
after 19 years with the same company became available, Richard seized
the opportunity.
Richard came to WingSwept Communications Inc. in 2005 as its first
dedicated Sales Representative. He was presented with the task of starting a new
sales division consisting of website sales called "Repair Shop
Websites". These websites were created and marketed to the
automotive repair and parts industry. Within 2 years, Repair Shop
Websites became the leader in the automotive industry with hundreds of
customers in the U.S. and Canada.
