The Bright Future of WingSwept's Technology Spring Clean
GARNER, NC (April 30, 2009) - WingSwept, a local IT consulting company, cosponsored the first ever Technology Spring Clean this past Saturday with the help of Triangle Recycling and the Garner Chamber of Commerce. It was an opportunity for people to properly dispose of old electronics while cleaning out their home or office. The public had expressed high interest and need for the recycling event, but no one knew what to expect the day of the spring clean.
All were excited when over 50 new and familiar faces dropped off over 5,000 pounds of old technology equipment. People came eager to recycle truckloads of equipment, and were already curious whether this was to become an annual event. Computers (CPUs) and monitors were the most popular to be dropped off, but much more was being collected.
After such an outstanding turnout, WingSwept is happy to announce it is in fact going to become an annual event. This can mostly be credited to the communitys enthusiasm and willingness to support the cause.
"The Technology Spring Clean was our way of giving the public an outlet to get rid of old computer electronics while not risking the safety of their data. Many people don't know of such an easy and earth-friendly method to do that," says Jay Strickland, the president of WingSwept and originator of the community service event. "We were happy to reach out to help on Saturday, and look forward to alleviate these worries for even more people at next year's event."
Next year, the second annual Technology Spring Clean will be coinciding with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. It is planned to be on Saturday April 17, 2009, and WingSwept has every reason to believe in even more participation throughout the community. Details will be posted on-line as they become available at www.wingswept.com/recycle/
