In collaboration with Earth Day, WingSwept hosted the first-ever Technology Spring Clean community service event on April 25, 2009, and collected over 5,000 pounds of equipment to be recycled. Without this opportunity, these items may have polluted our landfills and caused harm to the earth.

WingSwept’s Technology Spring Clean has become an annual Earth Day event in Garner. Over the past several years, more than 69,000 pounds of technology equipment has been dropped off to be recycled. We thank the community for their enthusiasm and support towards the cause!  We hold the spring clean event to allow businesses and consumers the opportunity to bring in unwanted computer and electronic items, drop them off for free, and avoid having them harmfully disposed of in landfills.

Improperly disposing of technology in landfills has been banned. Computers/CPUs, UPS, printers, monitors, copiers, keyboards, mice, circuit boards, mainframes, hard drives, and phone systems are accepted for drop-off. All hard drives are removed from the computers and securely shredded before recycling. WingSwept is donating this service to the community to help businesses or individuals concerned about sensitive data have peace of mind, knowing that their discarded data will be deleted securely.

For more information on our next event on Saturday, April 20, 2013, please visit our flyer at www.wingswept.com/recycle.  All members of the general public are welcome.
