Small Business Computing has identified their top 3 technology trends for small business next year. They are:

-Accelerating transition from on-site deployment to cloud-based software and storage
-Increasing cyberattacks, especially ransomware that captures business data and holds it hostage
-Increased use of mobile apps, including those supplanting desktop-based productivity apps.

All three of these trends seem like solid bets. The transition to mobile application almost ensures that more services will move to the cloud – a far higher percentage of mobile apps are cloud-based than legacy desktop applications. And given the reported $3 million netted by the CryptoLocker ransomware creators in 2014, other malware programmers are likely interested in repeating their exploits.
